Synopsis
Gunfighter El Topo (The Mole, Alejandro Jodorowsky) and his young son (actual son Brontis Jodorowsky) ride through a desert, to a village whose inhabitants have been massacred. They track down those responsible, but this is only the beginning of the journey of El Topo...

Review
Bonkers surrealistic Western that was a huge success during an eight year run playing at midnight at the Elgin Theatre in Manhattan, El Topo was the original Midnight Movie. More than thirty years later, its hippyish excesses may not seem as profound as they did when viewed through a fug of marijuana smoke in 1970, but in terms of sheer orginality and stunning imagery, this is still a treat for the eyes and the mind. Recommended if only because there has never been a movie before or since remotely like El Topo.
