Synopsis
Washed up and drunken cop Jack Mosley (Willis) is given a dead-end task by his lieutenant: to escort con Eddie Bunker (Mos Def) the short 16 blocks from his holding cell at the police station to the courthouse, to testify in a case. It soon becomes clear though, that the information Bunker has is valuable enough for him to be a target for those he is about to indict.

Review
One of several films this week to start very strongly and then falter badly - has Hollywood forgotten how to end movies? Willis has a talent for picking projects - he knows he's well-suited to playing this kind of character: unsmiling, dour, monosyllabic, and the interplay with the motormouth Mos Def exhibits that valuable movie commodity - chemistry. Bustling through the crowded streets of a hot and claustrophobic downtown New York with these two is a pleasure, but this central idea seems to be ejected after forty minutes or so, making way for a far more formulaic last hour, again veering inexorably towards undue sentiment at the close.
