    Review
Made by Granada Films, it seems likely that Pierrepoint was originally made for TV before successful festival appearances led to it achieving a cinematic release. As a TV film, it's not bad. As a stand-alone movie, the production values aren't great, and the script never quite catches fire in the way a movie about so emotive a subject should. Based on a true story, the insertion of a fictional storyline for added dramatic power seems a disservice to the story. Timothy Spall is predictably good in the central role.
